Jan Brabham Atkinson, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 12, 2025 surrounded by her daughters. Her Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Lutheran Church of The Redeemer at 1:00 pm, and the family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Jan, the only daughter of six children, was born December 17, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Francis Marion Brabham and Inez Rogers Brabham. She graduated from St. Andrew’s Parrish High School and pursued undergraduate studies at Limestone University. Upon her return to Charleston, Jan started a family and worked in multiple jobs around the Lowcountry from working with family at the Meeting Street Piggly Wiggly to the Charleston County School District. Jan retired from the Charleston County School District where she had spent many years working in numerous capacities including the administrative assistant to numerous principals at St. Andrew’s Parish High School and helping to open West Ashley High School. Jan was well known for her love of cooking, reading, gardening, music and most of all family. She was often found in her kitchen preparing something delicious for her family, neighbors, and friends, or tending to her flowers and plants in her yard. Jan enjoyed spending her Sundays singing in the church choir followed by an afternoon surrounded by her family – daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. Jan poured her love, heart and soul into her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Hethington (Sean), Lisa Reynolds (David), and Leslie Lavender; five grandchildren, Andrew Hethington, Chris Hethington (Kirsten), Nicholas Reynolds, Ava Reynolds, and Emma Lavender; great granddaughter, Josie Maree Hethington; brothers F. Marion Brabham, Jr. (Debra) and Keith Brabham, and sister-in-law Elaine Brabham. Jan was preceded in death by Francis Marion Brabham, Inez Rogers Brabham, Ida Risher Rogers, Arthur Manning Doar, Arthur Brabham and David Brabham.
