Jamie Lee Traynham, 91, of North Charleston, SC, wife of Jasper Carroll Traynham entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1150 East Montague Avenue at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Old St. Andrew's Parish Churchyard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Jamie was born July 1, 1931 in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Stowe and the late Octavia Louise Elsberry Stowe. Jamie loved her church, sang in the choir for many years. She was known for her cooking and baking and is remembered for her cinnamon bread, cheese straws and pecan tarts. She taught at Holy Spirit Daycare and worked with handicap children. She loved playing golf. She was a Women's Club Champion at Yeaman's Hall Country Club, was a member of Park Circle and Petal Pushers Garden Club; and Daughters of The Nile. Jamie loved entertaining and people were drawn to her by her beautiful face and sweet personality. She lit up a room. She loved Folly Beach vacation with the girls. She was a card sender and always was encouraging others. She was a Southern lady who loved to dress up and always had her nails painted and hair done. Her life was her daughter, Jackie and her husband, Carroll.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carroll Traynham of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Jackie Bryant Fink of James Island, SC; several loved nieces; brother-in-law, Jack and his wife Kay Traynham of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Frances Swanson of Simpsonville, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved sisters: Bet, Frances, Nell, June and Margaret; and beloved brothers: Dan, Bob and CB.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1150 East Montague Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405 and/or Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
