James Edward Whetstone

James Edward Whetstone, Sr., 74, of Goose Creek, husband of Vivian Geneva Knowlton Whetstone, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

James was born August 27, 1940 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of the late Roy Whetstone and Sally Fields Whetstone. He was a shipping supervisor at Certainteed Roofing and worked for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad for eighteen years. James was a member of the Open Door Bible Baptist Church in Goose Creek. Over the years of his life, he enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and especially spending time with his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vivian Geneva Knowlton Whetstone of Goose Creek, SC; his sons, James E. Whetstone, Jr., of Fon du lac, WI, and Michael C. Whetstone, Derek C. Whetstone, and Craig D. Sohns, all of Goose Creek, SC; his daughter, Connie L. Sohns Carter of Goose Creek, SC; his eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
