James Edward Vesper

James Edward Vesper, 84, of Daniel Island, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Jim was born November 1, 1937, in Washington, District of Columbia to the late William Henry Vesper and Mary Josephine Walker Vesper. During his youth he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was an outstanding athlete. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C. and loved going back to his school reunions to see old friends. He received his undergraduate degree from American University, where he was the quarterback of the football team. Later, he received his Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University. Jim was a successful stockbroker and retired as Vice President of Merrill Lynch, but he was also an entrepreneur, inventor, and business owner. He invented a non-electric humidifier that he named Breathe Easy, and with the help of his wife, they sold thousands of units to happy customers across the country. Jim enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay with his family and was an avid golfer. He was a proud member of The Society of the Cincinnati and Bethesda Country Club. He loved telling a good joke and kept friends and family laughing with his sense of humor. He drank his bourbon neat and was always extremely generous to friends and family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Ellen Candish Vesper of Daniel Island, SC; children, James Edward Vesper, Jr. (Valerie) Maryville, TN; Pamela Mary Vesper of Raleigh, NC; Glenn Duncan Vesper (Suzanne) of Mount Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren, Rachel Helena Vesper, Evie Candish Vesper, Leah Bennett Vesper and Glenn Duncan Vesper, Jr. He was predeceased by his brother, Carl William Vesper.
