James "Jim" Bruce Thompson, 78, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Maxine M. Arnold Thompson entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 6, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am.  Internment will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 S. Live Oak Dr., Moncks Corner, SC. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Jim was born April 19, 1946 in Albermarle, North Carolina, son of the late Jethro Benson Thompson and the late Mary Gladys Sells.  He retired from the US Navy as a Senior Master Chief Petty Officer after serving 25 years. He was self employed after retirement with Big "Jims" Fix it Service Construction for many years. He enjoyed serving in his church Chaparral Baptist Church and spending time with his family.   

In addition to his wife, Maxine, he is survived by three children: Michael A. Thompson, Tammy A. Thompson, and Mary T. Braman (Barry) of Moncks Corner, SC; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jethro Benson Thompson; mother, Mary Gladys Sells Thompson, and his previous wife, Margaret Amelia Calcutt Thompson
