James Howard Taylor, Jr., 71, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Ellen Gale Carter Taylor died Wednesday, May 2, 2018. A memorial service will be held in Seagrove, North Carolina at a date and time to be announced. His graveside service with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. James was born June 1, 1946 in Big Stone Gap, Wise County, Virginia, son of the late James Howard Taylor and the late Gladys V. Hood Taylor. He retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer and served in Vietnam as a special forces military advisor. After his retirement he worked as a project manager for procedure upgrade programs for nuclear plants. James was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a member of the VNV MC and loved all his brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen C. Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, James H. Taylor, III (Michelle) of Erwin, TN; daughter, Cindy McKissock of Arlington, VA; two sisters, Priscilla Smith (Ray) of Alpharetta, GA and Joyce Fox (Rick) of Fallston, MD; three grandchildren, Paul McKissock, Jim H. Taylor, IV (Leah) and Hunter Taylor; one great-grandchild, Braylee Rose Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
