James "Jimmy" Evans Snyder
James "Jimmy" Evans Snyder, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Margaret Jane Snyder, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 21, 2024. A gathering for family and friends will take place Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
Jimmy was born April 28, 1933 in Helena, Arkansas, son of the late Gilbert Snyder and Mildred Owens Locke. Jimmy attended Holmes Community College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He was especially always a fan of Ole Miss. Jimmy also served in the United States Navy from 1952 - 1954.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Susan Wood (Michael) of Charleston, SC; nieces, Linda McIntosh of Little Rock, AR and Amy Summer of Peachtree City, GA; and nephew, Jimmy Ramsey of San Antonio, TX. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his step-son, Harvey Jones; and two sisters.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Jimmy's caretakers, including Emma, Jo, Chevella, and the hospice team.
Memorial donations can be made in Jimmy's memory to the Essex Village Church of Christ, 736 Savage Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
