James Shand Smith

On the evening of July 1, 2011, James "Jimmy" Shand Smith, beloved son of Ruth Carol Tharin Smith and Wilson Harvey Smith, Sr., passed into Eternity.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wilson Harvey Smith, Jr.

Jimmy was born May 31, 1951 in Charleston, SC and resided at Allwood House in North Charleston.  He led a vibrant, productive life participating in the Special Olympics program, playing sports, especially baseball and bowling, enjoyed ceramics and worked in the post office.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the many kindnesses of his caregivers, especially Jackie Euland and for his many friends, especially his best friend, Willie.

He is survived by a sister, Tharin "DeeDee" Williamson and husband, John R. Williamson, of Rowlett, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside funeral services in Magnolia Cemetery Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.  Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
