James Louie Smith

January 23, 1920 — September 1, 2016

James Louie Smith, 96, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Inez Ervin Smith died Thursday, September 1, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Cooper River Baptist Church, 1059 Crawford Street at 3:00 p.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

James was born January 23, 1920 in Halls, Tennessee, son of the late William H. and Myrtle Smith. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. James was a Mason and retired Director of Industrial Relations at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was an active charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Janice S. Lyman (Allan) and Carole S. Galloway; three grandchildren, Scott W. Lyman (Kerri), James M. Galloway (Amelia), and Bryan P. Galloway; three great-grandchildren, Blake Lyman, Eliza and Emma Claire Galloway; as well as one great-granddaughter expected in November.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cooper River Baptist Church, 1059 Crawford Street, North Charleston, SC 29405.
