James Franklin Seabrook

March 18, 1930 — June 20, 2018

Heaven just gained one of God's most faithful servants. James Seabrook went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. James was the husband of Doris S. Strickland. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in First Baptist Church of Johns Island, 3483 Maybank Hwy at 11:00 a.m. where the family will receive friends in the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

James was born March 18, 1930 in Walterboro, South Carolina, son of the late James Murray Seabrook and Rosa Jeanette Garvin Seabrook. The family moved to Johns Island when he was five years old. He was the retired manager of "Cash and Carry" grocery wholesale outlet on Melbourne Street for 27 years. He was a boy scout leader, Dixie Youth Baseball Coach, and played drums with The Plantation Pals for many years. He also coached a ladies church softball league, was an avid bowler, and won many trophies.

He graduated from St. Johns High School where he played football. He was a Faithful member of First Baptist Church of Johns Island, where he served as Sunday school teacher, Church Trustee, and was Choir Director for many years.

A friend wrote the following:

"I have nothing but good things to say about that man whom I adored. He was my neighbor, my choir director, a fellow church member, and a good friend. His laugh, his jokes, and his great stories will never be forgotten. He was a Christian man who didn't just talk the talk but always walked the walk in his everyday life. I hope you fill Heaven with the music of your velvety smooth voice, Jim!! You will be missed by so, so many."

He is survived by his wife, Doris S. Seabrook, daughter, Ronda S. Ives, son, Chip Soles (Nancy) all of Johns Island, SC; three brothers, Carl Seabrook (Mildred) of Johns Island, SC, Wilson Seabrook of Johns Island, SC, and Trap Seabrook (Laura) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Cynthia Schad (Fred) of FL, and many nieces and nephews.
