James "Jim" Rooker, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Elizabeth Pauline Rooker entered into eternal rest Friday, June 7, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr, West Ashley Chapel. James was born November 8, 1925 in Jacksonville, Florida, son of the late Burleigh Davidson Rooker and Leila Daniel Rooker. He retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer where he was a Communications Specialist. He served his country proudly during World War II and the Korean War. He also retired from the state where he worked at Job Service. He was a past member of the Civitan Club.He is survived by his 4 daughters, Sandra Clark (Robbie) of Cross, SC, Cheryl Clayton (Doug) of Dorchester, SC, Susan Welling (George) of North Charleston, SC and Debby Maxwell (Ron) of Summerville, SC; 11 grandchildren; 17great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Rooker of Bluffton, SC; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Beatrice Phillips and Shirley Chambers.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
