James Clark Seabrook Rivers, Ph.D, 84, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest September 22,2014. At the request of the family, all services will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston.
James was born October 13, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Henry Fowler Rivers and Evelyn Hart Rivers. He was graduate of Clemson University where he received his Masters Degree and his Ph.D. Dr. Rivers was a Professor in the English Department with Charleston Southern University for 29 years.
He is survived by his two sons, James C.S. Rivers, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Raleigh Westbury Hart Rivers of Carrollton, GA; two brothers, Henry Rivers of Johns Island, SC and Joe Rivers of Charleton SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charleston Southern University Foundation, 9200 University Blvd, Charleston, SC 29406.
