James Gilbert Painter, 19, of Elloree, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 27, 2021 following a motor vehicle accident. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Mt Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 at 3:00PM. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

James was born June 3, 2001 in Burleigh, North Dakota and adopted by his paternal grandparents, Robert M Gilbert, Jr. and Susan Hanf Gilbert. He attended Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary School, Wando High School, and Job Corps. As a youth he attended Mt. Pleasant First Baptist Church. James was a former employee of both Cracker Barrel and McDonalds in Santee. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and reading.

He is survived by his adopted parents, Robert and Susan; father, James Clarence Painter II; mother, Jodi Lynn Anderson; maternal grandmother, Cathy Anderson Kessel; brother, Jacob Anderson; uncle, Robby Gilbert III (Carey); aunt, Jamie Scott; and two nieces and a nephew.
