James J. Monaghan, Sr., 56, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Sally Newkirk Monaghan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 6, 2017 after a battle with cancer. His Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 12:00 p.m. The family will host a reception at their home following the service.
Jim was born September 1, 1960 in Irvington, New Jersey, son of the late Alfred Chadwick Monaghan and Rosemarie Perricone Monaghan. He graduated from the University of South Carolina. He was an entrepreneur and real estate broker in charge at First Commercial Real Estate. Jim was dedicated to his business and his family. He enjoyed cooking Italian feasts for everyone and spending quality time with his loved ones.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his children, James J. Monaghan II (Natalie), M. Zachary Monaghan, and Savannah E. McLain (Brennen); four grandchildren, James, Julian, Noah, and Layla; three sisters, Lorraine, Debbie, and Frances; as well as many nieces and nephews.
