We regret to inform you that "Jim" McCorkle passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2010 at his home in Asheboro, North Carolina.  Jim was born on April 23, 1950 in Savannah, Georgia to Rita McCorkle and the late James C. McCorkle.  Jim is survived by his beloved son, James C. McCorkle, III and (Ashley Rozier).  He will be sadly missed by his family, his loving mother Rita McCorkle and sister Sandy Kirkman, both of Summerville, S.C., his brothers Barry and (Dawn) McCorkle of Anderson, S.C., and Alan McCorkle of Long Beach, Calif.  Jim loved his nieces and nephews, Allison and (Andy) Clark and their daughters, Anson and Ella of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Tucker Wilkes of Charleston, S.C., Lauren, Leann, and Sydney McCorkle of Anderson, S.C. and Savannah, Harrison, and Miranda McCorkle of Long Beach, Calif.  Jim graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence, S.C. and then joined the U.S. Air Force, faithfully serving his country in Vietnam.  Jim was brought up in the Christian faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age.  Jim lived in Charleston for many years, where he enjoyed his love of the beaches, boating, and golfing.  Most recently, he lived in Asheboro, N.C. and worked for the Energizer Battery Company, where he had many friends. 


The relatives and friends of Jim McCorkle are invited to attend his funeral service at the graveside in Beaufort National Cemetery, Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at eleven-thirty o'clock with military honors.  The family will receive friends at J.HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Monday from five until seven o'clock.
