It is with great sadness that the family of James Bradley Maiers, Sr. (56) announces his passing on August 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. A lifelong Charlestonian, Brad was born on December 30, 1968, at the Medical College of South Carolina. He graduated from Porter-Gaud School and earned his degree from the University of South Carolina in 1991.

After college, Brad returned home to Charleston, where he founded Lowcountry Gases, which he proudly owned and operated for more than 20 years. He later continued his career with Roberts Oxygen.

An avid outdoorsman, Brad spent his life enjoying golf, hunting, and fishing in the Lowcountry and especially treasured time at his family’s home in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Ginn Maiers, son, James Bradley Maiers, Jr., parents, Henry and Dot Maiers, sister, Ashley Owens (Kevin) and a large and loving extended family of an aunt, cousins, in-laws, a nephew and seven nieces.

Brad lived a full and meaningful life that cannot be measured in years. He will be remembered as a loyal husband, father, son, and friend, always quick with clever comment and possessing a quiet intellect. He introduced his son, James, to golf at the tender age of three making him an honorary member of of his golf group, The Dream Team. The time spent with his father instilled a great passion in James and he has already become an accomplished golfer. Ever the Gamecock, Brad was was gearing up for the 2025 football season in a house divided between USC and UGA. Brad will always be admired for remaining upbeat and optimistic, making so many memories with his adoring family and many friends.

A celebration of life be held September 7th, 2025 from 1-4PM at Huey’s on the Links Course, 1001 Back Bay Drive, Isle of Palms,SC . In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Wando High School Golf Team Donations payable to Wando High School Note:Boys Golf-In memory of Brad Maiers, 1000 Warrior Way Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466 or The Brad Maiers Memorial D-ball Classic c/o The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge 269 Calhoun St. Charleston SC 29401.
