James Lee Johnson, Sr., 86, of North Charleston, SC, died Friday, February 26, 2016. His funeral service will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 27, 2016, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. James was born December 26, 1929 in Fort Screven, GA, son of the late Charles Johnson and the late Roxie Creel Johnson.
He was retired from Telecommunications in General Maintenance and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.He is survived by two sons, James "Sonny" Lee (Carolyn Teresa) Johnson, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC and Roy Steven (Patricia) Johnson of TN; two daughters, Ann (Keith) Oliver of Summerville, SC and Christine Michele (Mark) Thomas of NC; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Eveline Green of LaGrange, GA and Oneida Jackson of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Elizabeth Johnson.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association Coastal Branch, 44-A Markfield Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 and/or Special Olympics of SC, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
