James "Jay" Jarret Maynard

James Jarret Maynard, 51, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 8, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Jay was born April 24, 1972 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, son of Raymond William Maynard and Pamela Royce Maynard.  He held degrees from Appalachian State University, Johnson & Wales Culinary Institute and Trident Technical Institute.  

He worked in the food and beverage his entire career, working most recently at Blackbird Market for many years. He was a partner of Fulton V Restauraunt and in past years also worked at Magnolias, Carolinas and the Harbour Club.

Many knew Jay as "The Veggie Man". Among his many other interests, he was an avid bike rider, loved the outdoors. 

Jay was a wonderful soul who was much loved, and his family is proud beyond measure of his many achievements. He felt no need to impress anyone, although he did. He embraced life with his quick wit and humor, his unbelievable mind and his beautiful smile. He definitely did it HIS WAY!... he was Jay. 

Jay is survived by his parents, Raymond and Pamela Maynard and  of Charleston, South Carolina.
