James J. Rogers, 85, of Hanahan, SC, husband of Josephine McAteer Rogers, died Friday, December 9, 2011, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Born December 27, 1925 in Durham, North Carolina; he was one of four children of James J. Rogers, Sr., and Velma Williams Rogers.
Jim retired from the US Navy and the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Josephine; four children: William "Buck" Rogers; Ann Rogers Perritt and her husband Glenn; Edward "Ed" Rogers and Laura Rogers Brady and her husband Craig; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 in Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1106 Fort Drive, Hanahan. Interment with military honors will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Sunday, December 11, 2011 between 3:00 and 5:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:00pm followed by the Fleet Reverve Two Bell Ceremony.
