James Douglas Hughes, 68, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, July 31, 2026. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private at Cummings Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

James was born August 12, 1957 in Walterboro, South Carolina, son of the late Samuel Warren Hughes and the late Beatrice Brownlee Hughes. He was retired Navy and was a member of McArthur Lodge #427 as a Worthy Master.

He is survived by nephews: Stephen Lee Hughes (Victoria) of Yadkinville, NC and Nathan Clarke Hughes of Ridgeville, SC; niece, Kimberly Hughes Nolan (William) of Newnan, GA; great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Jerry Warren Hughes and Jack Fuller Hughes.
