James Heyward Housand

James Heyward Housand, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Heyward (the name most people knew him by) was born on April 28, 1931, in Red River, South Carolina, a son of the late Duff Housand and the late Ethel Faulk Housand. He was raised in the Red Bluff community of Horry County.

A decorated veteran of both the Vietnam War and Korean War, he dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, followed by a successful 30-year career in rental and construction in Myrtle Beach. His contributions to both his country and his community reflect a life of commitment and service.

Heyward was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Beverly Ann Anderson of the Pine Grove community of Horry County. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Housand Shepp of Charleston, SC; and his son, James Heyward Housand Jr. of Conway, SC; a nephew, Thomas Anderson (April) of Conway, SC; and numerous cousins.

A fisherman and outdoorsman, Heyward will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his lifelong service to others. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
