James Allen Hinton

James “Allen” Hinton, 63, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Herbert Hinton, entered into eternal rest Sunday, December 24, 2023. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
 
Allen was born November 15, 1960 in Waco, Texas, son of the late Benny Wayne Hinton and Shirley Jean Hinton. Allen graduated from North Charleston High School (Class of 1980), where he met the love of his life, Barbara. Allen and Barbara were happily married for 42 years. Allen worked for G&P Trucking Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in West Ashley. Allen was a member of Hammerton Lodge 332 in North Charleston for the past 40 years where he recently earned his lifetime membership and he also served as Master of the Lodge for 2 terms. He volunteered his time with Herbert’s Mobility for 29 years. 
 
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Herbert Hinton, two sons, Brian Allen Hinton (Jessica) and Brandon Robert Hinton (Angela) of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his four grandsons who he loved very much; Chase (9), Austin (9), Daniel (7) and Logan (4). Allen is also survived by his mother, Shirley Jean Hinton, and his brother, Terry Hinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. 
 
He was preceded in death by father, Benny Wayne Hinton, his brother, John Wayne Hinton, and mother-in-law, Betty Herbert.
