Entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 20, 2010, Mr. James A. Guerry, 85, widower of Lois B. Guerry, residence Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Funeral and burial will be private.
Mr. Guerry, the son of the late Horace David Guerry and Mary Christian Guerry, was born on May 20, 1925 in Savannah, Georgia. A Naval Veteran of World War II, he proudly served on the Destroyer Escort, Charles J. Kimmel, in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He later managed the Train Yard at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Guerry was a member of the Wayfarers Camping Club.
Mr. Guerry is survived by his daughter, Wanda W. Paxton and husband Branch, of Brevard, NC; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Monica and Jim Smith of Johns Island; one nephew; and two nieces.
