James E. Gowan

James Eliot Gowan, 36, of Summerville, SC, husband of Ericka Lynn Beebe Gowan, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010.  "Jim" bravely fought a long battle with brain cancer at home with the loving help of his wife Ericka and his family.


Born September 26, 1973 in Racine, WI he was one of three children of James Dennis Gowan and Connie Elaine Hine Gowan.  He and his family moved to the Charleston area two years ago when his employer of ten years, Hagemeyer North America, transferred him. 


Mr. Gowan is survived by his wife of ten years, Ericka B. Gowan and their two children, James "Mason" Gowan and Jackson Gowan of Summerville, SC;  parents, Mr. & Mrs. James D. Gowan of Lillian, AL; brother, Michael Gowan and his wife Gill of Lexington, KY; sister, Jessica Smith, her husband Heath and their children Samantha and Sidney of Signal Mountain, TN;  maternal grandmother, Hazel Hine of Palatka, FL; parents-in-law, Cheryl and Wayne Beebe of Jamestown, NY, sisters-in-law, Johanna Winton (Todd) their children, Jacob, Abby and Emily all of Sinclairville, NY and Michele Straight (Mel Egelston) her children, Jenna and Caitlin all of Niobe, NY; and his maternal grandmother-in-law, Irene Hoffman of Jamestown, NY.


A visitation will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, May 22, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.  Visitation and services will also be held in Jamestown, New York under the direction of Lind Funeral Home, Inc.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406 and Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 51 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
