James Lee Gaillard

James Lee "Pop" Gaillard, 81, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Emma Gene Hodge Gaillard, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 23, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

James was born May 5, 1933 in Seneca, SC, son of the late Julian Leroy Gaillard and Aurelia Burris Gaillard. He attended Clemson University and was a US Air Force veteran. He was retired from Marine Contracting and Towing as a tug boat engineer. He attended Mt. Olivet Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Pop is survived by his wife of 57 years of Awendaw, SC; his son, Andrew Gaillard and his wife Robin of Mount Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, David Lee Gaillard of Fort Gordon, GA, Andie Renee Gaillard of Mt. Pleasant, SC, John Michael Torlay of Wando, SC; his special daughters, Susan Gaillard Torlay of Wando, SC, Kendall Hilburn of Charleston, SC; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Edith Hodge of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was preceded in death by his sons, James Lee Gaillard, Jr., and Glen Earl Gaillard.

The family wishes to recognize Hospice of Charleston as "Angels of Mercy" for their love and support during this difficult time.
