James Frampton Freeman

 James Frampton Freeman, 94, husband of Sara Jo Gamble Freeman, of Indiantown, Union, and Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010. The funeral service for James F. "Framp" Freeman will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in St. Andrews Church, Mt. Pleasant. Graveside services will be in Indiantown Presbyterian Churchyard, Indiantown, SC at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Framp was born February 21, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, the fourth of seven sons of the late James Oswald Freeman and Mary Pope Frampton Freeman. He grew up on the Mt. Pleasant waterfront and graduated from the High School of Charleston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He returned from the war and married the love of his life, Sara Jo Gamble. They lived for many years in Union, SC, where Framp worked for the International Paper Company as a Woodlands Manager. Many joyous summer vacations were spent at Litchfield Beach with extended family. They later retired to Sara Jo's home in Indiantown. Framp was an accomplished carpenter and built exquisite furniture for his friends and family. He was raised in St. Andrews Church and built the Cross in the Ministry Center. He became a Presbyterian after his marriage and served as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher in numerous churches. He was a member of the Indiantown Presbyterian Church in Indiantown, SC. Surviving are his wife, Sara Jo Gamble Freeman, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Sara Ellen Freeman Ash (Lloyd) of Columbia, SC; his two grandchildren, Martha Frances Ash Giacomarrow (Robby) of Charleston, and Frampton Freeman Ash of Greenville, SC; his two brothers, Willington Edmondston Freeman (Crawford) and Harry Wyman Freeman (Margie) both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a brother-in-law, Richard A. Gamble (Juana) of Indiantown, SC; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Lanning of Jacksonville, FL; and his many nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by four brothers, James Oswald Freeman, Lewis Frampton Freeman, John Frampton Freeman, and Campbell Courtenay Freeman. The family wishes to thank the staff of Roper Hospital and Sandpiper Nursing Center, and especially his caregiver, Jonathan Wyatt Richardson.
