James Gwilliam Fowden, CW 4 (Ret.) of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at age 81. Born November 17, 1930 in Camden, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Frances Bezold Fowden and Robert A. Fowden. He is survived by his wife Patricia Parmley Fowden. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brigitte Fowden Cole of Columbia, South Carolina, Christine Zechow Sipe of Jacksonville, Florida, Peter Zechow of Würzburg, Germany, and Barbara Zechow Moore of West Creek, New Jersey; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He enlisted into the United States Army at age 16 and retired with over 30 years of honorable service (including a tour in the Korean War and three tours in the Vietnam War). He most recently taught graduate courses at Webster University as an Adjunct Professor of Business, retiring two years ago. James was loved by his wife and family and will be greatly missed.
