James Robert Fisher, Jr. 79, of Charleston, SC, husband of Beverly Fisher, was called home on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021. The family will receive visitors on Saturday July 10, 2021 at 10am at Ashley River Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Jim was born February 7, 1942 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late James Robert Fisher, Sr. and Laura Rothwell Fisher. His family relocated to Augusta, GA with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad where he attended Richmond Academy. Jim served 6 years in the National Guard while studying Criminal Justice at Florida State University. He had a rewarding 30 year career as a Special Agent with CSX Railroad Police, where he found his true passion…people. Jim could always strike up a conversation, find common ground and make you smile. He enjoyed woodworking, knife-making, gardening and reading. He was devoted to his faith and family and sought to preserve these values in his offspring.
Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean Hilbert. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Burnette Fisher; eldest sister, Mary Eason; sons, Caleb Daniel Fisher (Jennifer) and Joshua David Fisher (Kimberly); grandchildren, Jackson Croft Fisher, Claire Harvey Fisher, Laura Rose Fisher and Cara Margaret Fisher; as well as many nieces and nephews.
It is with gratitude that the family would like to acknowledge those that provided Jim with such excellent cardiac care, namely Dr. Jeffery Rieder and Dr. Bryan Frain, their staff, and all the nurses who attended to him over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashley River Baptist Church Student Ministry. Psalm 78:3-7.
You are forgiving and good, O Lord,
abounding in love to all who call to you.
