James Stroman Davidson

Jimmy Davidson, 66, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. 


The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Stroman Davidson are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11:00 am in Bethany United Methodist Church on James Island.  Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Wednesday between 5-7 pm.


Jimmy was born April 18, 1944 to Eugene and Hazel Stroman Davidson.  He was a graduate of James Island High School.  After graduation, Jimmy followed in his father's footsteps and went to work for the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 32 years as a Machinist in Shop 38.  He was a member of the International Machinist Union for 40 years and served as past President and Secretary.  He then went to work at MUSC for 13 years.  He served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves.  He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of James Island his entire life and sang in the choir for 30 years.  He was a Charter Member of the Bill Davis Sunday School Class.


Jimmy Davidson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  He is survived by his wife, Chris, sons Jim and Jon, daughter-in-law Mandy, two grandchildren, brother Kenny, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gene.   The stars in his eyes were his grandchildren, Blake and Anna Davidson, of Clemson, SC.


 Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Highway, Charleston, SC  29412.
