James "Jim" Carroll Dark, Sr., 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Audry Pruitt, entered into eternal rest Thursday, September 3, 2026. His Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Sunday, one hour prior to the service, stating at 12:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., at 11:00 am.

Jim was born April 18, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late Morgan Dark and Ola Mae Carroll Dark. Jim lived a life marked by service and simple pleasures. He served in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer, a role that reflected dedication, discipline, and commitment. Outside of his military service, Jim enjoyed relaxing on the porch, finding peace in quiet moments and the comfort of familiar surroundings.

He is survived by two sons, James Carroll Dark, Jr. (Cynthia Jones) of Charleston, SC, William "Joey" Dark (Brenda) of Gulf Shores, AL; grandchildren, Christopher Dark, Dustin Dark (Kristin), Allison Brook Dark, Joshua Dark, Brandon Dark, Brent Dark; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jamie Dark; and brother, Tommy Dark.
