James Edward “Eddie” Corbin III, 78, of Hollywood, South Carolina, husband of Marvia Anderson Corbin, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 25, 2026. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ-St. Paul’s Cemetery, 5034 Chapel Road. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.

Born August 2, 1947, in Columbia, Eddie was the beloved son of the late James Edward Corbin Jr. and Patricia Browning Corbin. He devoted more than 40 years to Metal Trades as an EHS Manager, working alongside his siblings and many lifelong friends. He was respected for his steady leadership, professionalism, quick wit, and unwavering commitment to his team. Before that, he spent many years as a successful commercial shrimp boat captain. His first true love was his boat, the Running Bear, and his love of the ocean lived on in his children and the many great men who worked by his side.

Eddie proudly served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1972. A man of many talents and boundless energy, he loved flying airplanes, racing boats, and fishing-pursuits he joyfully shared with his three sons. He will be remembered for his remarkable skill in the kitchen and at the grill, where he could cook anything to perfection. He was the master of the grill. If something was broken, Eddie could fix it; his hands seemed to hold a solution for every problem. He took great pride in his yard-few could coax a lawn into such beauty-and he was happiest outdoors, always on the move.

Eddie had a gentle heart for every creature in need. He rescued and raised animals of all kinds-squirrels, raccoons, deer, a calf, even a family of baby opossums and taught a neighbor’s cat to sit before he could eat. He passed that compassion on to his daughter. By the time she was in second grade, he was a devoted single father who raised her with love, grit, and joy. Together they shared meals they cooked, days on the water, a love of plants and open skies. He taught her how to care for others, how to use every power tool in the shed, and how to back a boat trailer down a ramp before she turned ten.

Eddie’s love and devotion to his wife Marvia, and Marvia’s devotion to Eddie, were steadfast and tender. Across their 20 years together, they cared for each other with kindness and constancy, making those years the best of their lives. Both were always supportive, always willing, and always present-right up to the end.

Those who knew Eddie remember more than his work ethic. They carry with them a bit of “Eddie wisdom,” his easy humor, and the warmth he left in every heart he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Marvia Anderson Corbin; his children, Jay E. Corbin, Richie G. Corbin (Lori), Randy M. Corbin (Courtney), and Morgan C. Nelson (Chris); his step-daughter, Melissa Hough; step-son, Trey Westervelt (Miranda); his grandchildren, Lauren, Brooke, Savannah, Blair, McKenzie, Kennedy, Ryder, Rin, Megan, Calli, Cody, Talon, and Tate; his great-grandchildren, Cales, Bayliss, Blythe, Charlotte, Addison and Aubrey; and his siblings, Rusty Corbin (Margaux), David Corbin (Winnie), Freddie Corbin (Patsy), Patti Corbin, and Angie Corbin (Keith). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Teddy Corbin.

We will miss your jokes and your smile-but most of all, we will miss you. Rest in peace, Captain
