James Lewis Collins, 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Pauline Marie Vinet Collins passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. A Celebration of James' Life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, November 8, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
James was born April 11, 1936 in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, son of the late Sam and Ruby Mae Dowless Collins. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a retired Pipefitter with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, where he served as a Deacon, James enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of the highlights of his life was having fun with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline; his three sons, Tommy (Cecilia) Collins of Beaufort, SC, Phillip (Barbara) Collins of Cordesville, SC, and Billy (Felicia) Collins of Goose Creek, SC; his grandchildren, Sean, Taylor, Drew, Tommy, Jr., Kyle, Mia, Hannah, Tanner, and Emily Collins; and his sisters, Hilda Hardee of Elizabethtown, NC, and Norma Hall of Bladenboro, NC.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in James' name to First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
