James "Jim" K. Boggs, 70, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Marta Gilliam Boggs passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Friends and family are invited to attend his visitation Wednesday, June 14, 2017 J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road.
Jim was born April 15, 1947 in Charleston, West Virginia, son of the late John K. Boggs and the late Virginia McTheney Boggs. Jim graduated from Rivers High School and attended the Baptist College of Charleston. He was employed in the wine and spirits industry. He also was a volunteer with East Cooper Meals on Wheels. Jim attended Seacoast Church.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, Marta, he is survived by his children, Ashlie McGuire and Ali Wilson (Chris); and the joys of his life, granddaughter, McClain McGuire and grandson, Hayes McGuire. Jim is also survived by two brothers, Mike Boggs and Steve Boggs and their families of Indianapolis, Indiana; an aunt Phyllis McTheney of Lanexa, Virginia; and his father-in-law, Charles Gilliam; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Tommy Townsend and niece, Nicole Wilder.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or to the American Lung Association, 44-A Markfield Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
Jim fought the good fight and is finally at peace!
