James Harvell Blasingame, Jr., 75, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Shirley Williams Blasingame entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 30, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 1, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Jim was born February 18, 1947 in Monroe, Georgia, son of the late James Harvell Blasingame and the late Sara Pauline Breedlove Blasingame. Jim served in the US Navy for 9 years; the day after his discharge he began his 27 year career as a ship fitter at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was also a driver for Parks Automotive and a trim carpenter with Howard's Construction. Jim was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, the Omar Shrine Temple and a Keystone Cop. He enjoyed being a member of the Palmetto Dodge Association. He will be remembered for his involvement with the community and the way he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley; three children, James William "Bill" Blasingame and Susan Reed, April Blasingame Bunch and husband James Sylvester Bunch, and Robert Tyrell Blasingame; twelve grandchildren, Tyler James Blasingame, Cody Lee Wolf Blasingame, Krystal Skye Radcliff, John Williiam Radcliff II, James WIlliam Avery, Kelsey Miranda Chisolm, Courtenay Ann Blasingame, Brandon Mitchell Blasingame, Hunter Lynn Hart Blasingame, Rease Christopher Ellison, Brantley Michael Craven, and Hayden Robert Blasingame; sister, Kitty Pauline Dewberry (Randy); eleven great-grandchildren and two on the way; Virginia Mitchum and Dan, Myrtle Howard and Lewis, Billy Williams and Donna and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Clyde Blasingame and sister-in-law, Regina Blasingame.
