James Denney Beaty, 78, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Charlotte WathaleneVanZant Beaty died Friday, October 5, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 1:00 pm. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
James was born February 22, 1940 in Wayne County, KY to Hardin Matthew and Flora Della Matthews Beaty. He was married June 3, 1962 to Charlotte Wathalene VanZant. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, a Master Parachutist, Charleston County Police Officer and was an avid bowler and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Max Arnold Beaty, three sisters: Mae Clark, Ann Ray and Sue Beaty. Surving in addition to his wife Charlotte are their four daughters: Kathy Beaty (Sherry Waddell) of Goose Creek, SC, Angela Beaty (Tony) of North Charleston,
Jamie (Tim) Cady of Riverview, FL and Teresa (Louis) Hoffman of Summerville, SC; one sister, Dorothy (Frank) Means of Summerville, SC; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Palmetto Warrior Connection, 2150 Eagle Drive, North Charleston, SC 29406.
