James Henry Atkins

James Henry Atkins, 74, of North Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Elkton, Virginia, died Friday, September 19, 2014. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel.

James was born May 10, 1940 in Elkton, Virginia, son of the late Ott Benjamin Atkins and the late Ruby Lou Eaton Atkins. He was a retired tree surgeon, a member of the NRA and various hunting lodges.

He is survived by four brothers: Harry Atkins, Junior Atkins, Earl Atkins and Carroll Atkins; three sisters: Goldie Merica, Eva Crawford and Reba Hammer, all of Elkton, VA; friends, Dorothy Spencer and her family of Charleston, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
