James Gardner Abbott, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Elizabeth Abbott entered into eternal rest Friday, December 19, 2025. His memorial service will be held Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM, in Eastbridge Presbyterian Church, 1250 Lexington Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
James was born June 7, 1938, in Evanston, Illinois, son of Gardner Bemis Abbott and Lois Brashears Abbott. Mr. Abbott retired from BASF after 25 years as a color specialist. He had a passion for singing and would perform with the barbershop quartet he was a part of, known as "The Frogs". Mr. James served as a deacon at Eastbridge Presbyterian Church. Although he loved wood working and always finding things to build, nothing would come close to the love and devotion he had for his family.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John William Abbott and Paul Allen Abbott.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David Michael (Marcia) Abbott; two daughters, Jennifer Lynne (Boris) Murphy, and Susanne Noelle Abbott; and five grandchildren' Emily, William, Matthew, Issac, and Justinian.
