Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, Msgt, Ret. Jake McKinley Taylor, 75, husband of Emma Lou Taylor of Charleston. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 12:00 pm at John Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment is to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Mr. Taylor was born on March 4, 1936 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was a member of Santee Circle Community Church, the American Legion, and attended John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a retired USAF veteran who served in the 3rd Military Airlift Squadron, and he received various commendations including The Distinguished Flying Cross. He was dearly loved by his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Emma Lou Taylor of Charleston; a son, Lt. Col. Jake M. Taylor, Jr. (Susan) of Spring Lake, NC; a daughter, Mary Kaye Fanning (Joe) of Charleston; four grandchildren, Samantha Taylor, Jake Taylor III, Taylor Hart, and Emma Hart; two step grandchildren, Joseph Fanning and Daniel Fanning.
