Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Nativity Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held later in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, OH. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Jacquelyn Mary (Jackie) recently residing in Sun City Hilton Head, SC, was born February 27, 1934 in Norwich, New York to the late William Redmond and Anne Daly Redmond. The family soon moved to Binghamton, NY, where Jacquelyn resided until her marriage on January 16, 1954 to Leo H. Everitt, Jr. of Canton, OH. The marriage produced six children, of which she was very proud and in quiet moments, often mused in wonderment over how it was done.

Jackie struggled with academics during her time at North High School in Binghamton. However, later in life she was diagnosed with Dyslexia and with that diagnosis she was able to understand and overcome its effects to a large degree. After her youngest child entered college, she decided to go on to college herself. She graduated from the Indiana University Business School with honors with a BS in Business and a Minor in Transportation. Over the next several years she worked for Cummins Engine Company, Columbus, IN and Baxter Travenol, Chicago, IL in their distribution organizations. She was one of a small number of Baxter employees who were assigned to a team to develop a computer system to manage a complex dual facing warehouse to ensure no medical products were shipped without proper inspections and approvals.

Jackie volunteered over the years in many towns where she lived with her family. She volunteered at a Children's Home in Columbus, IN, and at the grade school they attended where she noted a disparity in the amount of school supplies given to the lower economic areas compared to those of the children that attended her children's schools. She undertook a successful campaign to provide equal school supplies to all schools within the school district. While volunteering at the Children's Home, she decided to do even more. She brought home one of the children to her home full-time and along with her husband Leo, served as foster parents during this same time.

Jackie worked with the Red Cross in Charleston, SC and Nashville, IN as well as a Hospice in Frisco, CO. The latter had serious financial record keeping problems endangering their non-profit status. She successfully upgraded their financial systems and records to meet the IRS standards. She worked on home building with Habitat for Humanity in Bluffton, SC. She was the National Registrar for the 2003 National Rally of the Discovery Owners Association for their annual meeting in Kennewick, WA. Jacquelyn loved participating in sports, particularly tennis and golf. She was an excellent bridge player and looked forward to nothing more than a challenging complex puzzle.

She is survived by her husband, Leo H. Everitt, of 60+ years; four sons: Michael P. Everitt (Tammy) of Alexandria, VA, Peter Everitt (Debbi) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Charles Everitt (Pam) of Charleston, SC and Ted Everitt of Grand Rapids, MI: two daughters, Susan Everitt of Bluffton, SC and Kelly Everitt Saunders (Kenneth) of Towson, MD; sister, Pat Clark of Horseheads, NY; two brothers, Peter Redmond of Westover, VT and William Redmond of Reno, NV: twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Stephanie Minor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
