Jacqueline Smith Mappus

December 20, 1926 — November 14, 2010

Jacqueline Smith Lohr Mappus, wife of Theodore Tobias Mappus, Jr., died Sunday, November 14, 2010.  Residence, Charleston, SC.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore T. Mappus, Jr. are invited to attend her funeral services, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at 3 pm.  Interment, Private. 


A reception (Celebration of Life) will immediately follow after the church service in Blackmer Hall at Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community.


Mrs. Mappus was born December 20, 1926 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Julian Allen Smith and Lucille Pieper Smith.  She was reared in old Windermere and attended St. Andrew's Parish Schools.  She was a 1947 graduate of the College of Charleston, where she earned a BS degree in English and History.  She was Miss College of Charleston for two years.


She was employed for five years as assistant to the curator of Education at the old Charleston Museum; after which she taught English and History at James Island High School.  Her last employment was with the SC Employments Security Commission, where she held the position of Labor Market Analyst.


Mrs. Mappus was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Colonial Dames 17th Century, The Jamestown Society and a lifetime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.  She is survived by her husband, Ted Mappus; her daughter, Barbara Allen Lohr Teller and her husband Jon Teller of Fernandina Beach, FL; her son, George Michael Lohr and his wife Lora of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Marilyn Smith Weeks of James Island, SC and her four grandchildren, Sean Anthony Lohr, Christina Marie Lohr, Frances deMichel Teller and David Seaton Teller.  She was predeceased by her first husband, George Congdon Lohr, Jr. and a son, David Brian Lohr.
