Jacqueline "Jacki" Plaxe Baer, 93, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Richard Baer entered into eternal rest Monday, November 25, 2024. She will have an Traditional Graveside Ceremony on Wednesday, November 27, in Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Jacki was born April 6, 1931 in New York, New York, daughter of the late Benjamin Plaxe and Sarah Gallop Plaxe. She held an undergraduate degree from Hunter College and a Master’s Degree from Russell Sage College. Jackie retired from the New York State public school system where she worked in various educational capacities to include serving as a college professor as well as in secondary education that spanned a total of 35 years.
Upon retiring to Charleston, SC, Jacki became involved in multiple civic organizations and was the founder of "Fields to Family." This organization led to over 400 plus volunteers gleaning 70,000 plus pounds of produce from local farms. This produce found its way on to tables of undernourished families. These efforts as well as Plant-A-Row, she was recognized by the governor of South Carolina with the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was a member of Chabad of Charleston as well as Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim.
Throughout her life she was always generous in Charity and making her #1 Priority to Feed the Hungry
Jacki is survived by her son, Barry Charles Liebowitz of Inverness, FL; and her daughter Lauri and her children Sarah and Mathew.
