Jacob Arthur "Mr. Bill" Bouknight, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Ellen Earp Bennett, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 10, 2022. His Celebration of Life will be held in Harmony at West Ashley on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Mr. Bill was born May 2, 1940 in Chester, South Carolina, son of the late Jacob Bill Bouknight and Ruby Leach Erwin Bouknight. Mr. Bill served in the U.S. Army and the North Carolina National Guard where he was a member of the National Guard Rifle Team. He retired as a Biomedical Engineer at the VA Hospital in Durham, NC.
He was a Shriner with Amran Shrine Club, Raleigh, NC; Past President of the Henderson Shrine Club, Henderson, NC; a Master Mason; and Past President of Masonic Lodge #229, Henderson NC. He was a Sunday School Teacher at Duke's Chapel United Methodist Church, Durham N.C., and Spring Valley United Methodist Church in Henderson N.C. He was also a square dance caller, and his passion as an avid motorcycle rider saw him take many cross country trips in the US and Canada.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mildred B. Mitchell of Louisburg, NC and Janice B. Allen of Rawlins, WY; a son, Jacob Paul Bouknight of Homosassa, FL; a step-son, Michael Bennett (Donna) of Goose Creek, SC; and five beloved grandchildren. In addition to these survivors, he leaves behind a very special companion, his treasured dog, Tillie.
