Jack William Whetsell

Jack William Whetsell, 84, of Hanahan, SC, husband of Genie Curtis Whetsell died Friday, October 12, 2018. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. Born June 7, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, Jack was one of nine children of the late Henry Oliver Whetsell and the late Bertie Nora Pye Whetsell. He retired from Westvaco as a supervisor. Jack was a member of SC Callers Association where he was inducted into the Square and Round Dance Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.He is survived by his wife, Genie Curtis Whetsell of Hanahan, SC; three daughters: Pamela Whetsell Rourk (Randy) of James Island, SC, Sandy Whetsell Westland (Don) of Goose Creek, SC and Jackie Whetsell Kanapaux (George) of Ladson, SC; seven grandchildren: Scott Westland (Jami), Lauren Kirk (Tanya Fogarty), Matt Kirk (Ashley), Jack Westland (Lexi), Alexis Rowland (fianc�, Stewart Brock), Julie Rowland; six great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1393 Miles Drive, Charleston, SC, 29407 and/or Susan G.
