Jack A. Stinson, Sr., 92, of Charleston, SC, husband of Elizabeth Stafford Stinson entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 11, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 11:00 am. Burial services with military honros will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Jack was born September 21, 1921 in Geneva, Georgia, son of the late William Seay Stinson and the late Alberta Cook Stinson. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy. He retired as a Terminal Supervisor with the South Carolina Port Authority. He was a very active member of Ashley River Baptist Church and also a member of Jenkins Hunting Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth S. Stinson; two sons, Jack A. Stinson, Jr (Karen) and G. Stafford Stinson (Marenda) all of Charleston, SC; daughter, Elizabeth S. Hendrick (Gerald) of Douglasville, GA; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashley River Baptist Church Building Fund, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC .
