Jack Dempsey Mitchum

Jack Dempsey Mitchum, 80, husband of Charlotte Porte Mitchum of Huger, SC, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, surrounded by his family. The relatives and friends of Jack Mitchum are invited to attend his Funeral Service at the graveside on Monday, June 28, 2010, in Apple Old Field Cemetery, Huger, SC at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, June 27, 2010, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Mitchum was born April 16, 1930, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Buck Mitchum and Ella Deas Mitchum. Jack was a Master Carpenter and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, long rides through the Francis Marion Forest and vacationing in the mountains. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Mitchum of Huger, SC; his children, Rhonda L. Campbell of Awendaw, SC, Garner Mitchum, Furman Mitchum and Billy Mitchum all of Huger, SC; four sisters, Ena Fuller, Lee, Mary, and Nollie; half brother, Tommy Wyndham of Mt. Pleasant, SC; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two of his children, Elizabeth L. Mitchum and Justin L. Mitchum.
