Jack Edward Milton, 91, of Hanahan, SC, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016. His funeral service will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 in the Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Drive at 10:00 am. The interment, with military honors, will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Jack was born January 13, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Robert Milton and the late Mary Elizabeth Droze Milton. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. Jack retired after 39 years with the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and also served on other numerous committees. Jack was on the Hanahan School Board from 1964 until 1972 and Hanahan City Council for over 12 years. He was a Past Master of Chicora Masonic Lodge and a member of Washington Light Infantry.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah McAlister Milton of Hanahan, SC; two daughters, Lydia M. Hellams (Wayne) of Swansboro, NC and Janice E. Strete (Steve) of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Jason Stancil (Jennifer) and Ali Young (Gerry); step-grandson, Trae McElheny (Jill) of Castle Rock, CO; great-grandson, Justin Stancil; great-granddaughters, Jessica Stancil and Isabella Young and step great-grandchildren: Conner, Margaret Hunter and Mac McElheny. He was preceded in death by his son, Jesse Allen Milton.
