Jack Thomas Mauldin

Jack Thomas Mauldin, Jr., 67, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, formerly of the Isle of Palms passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011. 


Relatives and friends of Jack are invited to attend a Service of Remembrance on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 12:00 noon. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Thursday from 11:00 until time of the service. 


 Jack was born on May 15, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Janie Louise Parker Mauldin Reynolds and Jack Thomas Mauldin, Sr. He attended Paris American High School in Paris, France and graduated from Fayetteville High School in North Carolina in 1962. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. Jack graduated from the College of Charleston in 1970 and graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1973. He was a member of the South Carolina Bar Association for 35 years. Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed many hobbies including sailing, woodworking, playing chess, watching old movies, and listening to classical music.  He was also a great lover of animals, especially his dog Willy and his beloved cat, Max. 


He is survived by his daughter, Jane Mauldin Berling and her husband, Andrew, of West Simsbury, CT; two grandchildren, Margaret and Caroline Berling; a brother, Col. Dewey Mauldin, USMC (Ret) and his wife, Stephanie, of Annapolis, MD; two nephews, Travers Mauldin and his wife, Jackie and Michael Mauldin; one niece, Caitlin Mauldin.


 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC  29406.
