Jack Bushling, 97, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Roberta "Becky" Jane Bushling entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 20, 2022. His memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am . Interment will be held at a later date in Beaufort National Cemetery with Military Honors.
Jack was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 28, 1924, son of the late John P. Danks and the late Minnie Danks. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and participated in the Pacific Campaign receiving several medals and ribbons for this service. After WWII, he then served in the United States Air Force during the Korea and Viet Nam engagements and retired as a Lt. Col with an Oak Leaf Cluster and an Air Force Commendation medal. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from UCLA and his masters from the University of Florida and attained membership in Alpha Kappa Psi and Alpha Phi Omega. As a member of the United Methodist Church of McCormick, S.C., he served as President of the Men's Fellowship Group, Head Usher, Leader of an Adult Sunday School Class, Christ Care Group and a member of the men's prayer group. Jack also enjoyed playing golf but will be remembered for his dedication in serving the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Becky, his daughter Julise Austin (Scott); his grandchildren, Alec and Luke Austin; his stepchildren, John and Steve Erickson, and step grandchildren, Josh Mischel and Tony Lopez, Bryce, Azure and Paul Erickson and Olivia Downs.
