J. Paul Ramey

J.Paul Ramey, Jr., 74, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Ursula Austin Ramey entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 20, 2016 after a brief illness. His memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Paul was born August 12, 1941 in Starke, Florida, son of the late J. Paul Ramey. Sr., and Clelia Dyson Ramey. He was raised in Rockingham, NC, and graduated from East Carolina University in 1967. He and his wife, Ursula met at East Carolina and they married 1960. Upon graduation he was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and retired from the FDIC and Resolution Trust Corporation in 1995. As an avid fisherman and boater, Paul enjoyed his time on the water with friends and family. He was a avid ECU football fan. Paul considered Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity a major force in his life and maintained a close bond with his Brothers over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ursula Austin Ramey; two Sons, Charles Nelson Ramey of San Diego, Edwin Ramey and his wife Elizabeth; two grandchildren, Alex and Amanda all of Atlanta, GA, as well as many close friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Heart Assoc. of SC Memorial Processing Center, 4217 Park Place Court Glen Allen, VA 23060.
