John Howard Steinbrecher, Sr., 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Marian Drake Steinbrecher entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 11, 2013. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in St. Johannes Lutheran Church at 1:30 pm. Inurnment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC, 29414.
Mr. Steinbrecher was born October 12, 1925 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of William H. Steinbrecher and Josephine Weinheimer Steinbrecher. He was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in World War II. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor with Westvaco. He was President of Rush Pond Hunting Club for 40 years.
He is survived by his son, John Howard Steinbrecher, Jr. (Catherine) of Ravenel, SC; one grandson, Brett Austin Steinbrecher; three step-grandchildren, Shelly Beasenburg (Joey), Brian Dixon (Susan) and Alison Dixon; one niece, Marla Buck and one nephew, Jim Buck (Kim). Also, special family, Timothy Motte (Susan) and their children, Josh & Brittany. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Steinbrecher and Helen Ducker.
